The video was originally filmed in March 2013. The video features interviews with Bertha and myself discussing what it’s like living with a disability, (we both have different types of Cerebral Palsy) being best friends, and attending The Arc of San Antonio. Bertha and I are very proud of ourselves and are happy to represent what The Arc is all about. Check out the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEB7_C4DBsg
The video was made by Ms. Heather Angel Chandler (Producer) of the Innovative Multimedia Group which creates many types of videos, animations and web development. The award was given on November 9, 2013 in the category of Human Interest News feature.
Bertha and I were told in October that the video was nominated. Bertha and I got very excited that the video might actually win an Emmy. The weekend of the Emmy Awards, I kept checking the Lone Star Emmy’s website and to see if Ms. Heather had won the Emmy. Bertha and I actually live a few minutes from each other. So Bertha was on the same VIA Transportation van as I was. I used my communicator to go online and check the Emmy Award announcements.
When Bertha and I found out that the video won an Emmy, we celebrated all of the way to The Arc!
The Lone Star Emmy represents the most experienced and talented television professionals from all disciplines of the industry and from all of Texas’ nineteen television markets.
