Hi, everyone! I’m so excited that it’s the month of October. My second favorite time of the year to be at The Arc. I love all of the Halloween themed activities and arts and crafts that we do at The Arc during October. With the help of The Arc Staff Members, we carve Jack-o-Lanterns for our Classroom Jack-o-Lantern Contest. Last year, my classroom’s Jack-o-Lantern theme was, “Despicable Mini Minion” inspired by the “Despicable Me” movies. We decorate our classroom door for The Arc’s Halloween Door Designs Contest. This year on Thursday, October 9th, we had our Halloween Classroom Door Decorating Contest. I am very proud to say that my The Honorable Mention Certificate was awarded to my class, The Arc Participants in the Volunteer Involvement Program, also known as “The V.I.P.S.” Our decoration theme was, “Fangs for the Memories” which featured a gigantic face of a vampire. All of The Arc Participants and Staff Members worked really hard and were very proud of our Halloween Door Decorations Creations.
Also, on Thursday, October 16th, the V.I.P. Participants Classrooms from both of The Arc of San Antonio locations, came together in a luncheon held at the Phil Hardberger Park, where the V.I.P. Participants were served by The Arc’s Staff Members to celebrate the third year anniversary. Each V.I.P. Participant received a Certificate of Recognition signed by The Arc’s CEO / President, Mr. Steve E. All of the V.I.P.S. and I are very proud of ourselves and our accomplishments.
To wrap up our Halloween celebrations at The Arc of San Antonio on West Avenue, we have a Halloween Day Dance and Participant and Staff Member Costume Contest that is judged by The Arc Staff Members. The Arc Participants and Staff Members received individualize certificates for our costumes. This year, I’m planning on my Halloween costume to be Queen Titania; Queen of the Fairies from William Shakespeare’s play, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” Thank you for reading my blog and I hope that you have a great and safe Halloween!
