Marvelous May!

Tameka Red Nose Day 05-21-2015 Thursday
Hi, everybody! I hope that you’re had a fabulous month of May. I dedicate this month’s blog to my mother that’s always there for me, and to all of the mothers of the world. This month I couldn’t attend The Arc because I had to have gallbladder removal surgery. During the two weeks that I was in the hospital, one of the things that helped to take my mind off the pain was to watch with my mom the 1993 Hanna-Barbera direct to home video, “The Flintstones in Hollyrock-a-bye Baby.” This is the sequel movie to “I Yabba-Dabba Do!”  Where Pebbles Flintstone and Bamm-Bamm Rubble get married. In “Hollyrock-a-bye Baby,” Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm are expecting their first child. I have had always loved this movie and I thought that it was very appropriate for Mother’s Day.

Also, during the month of May, I donated to the Red Nose Day Charity. Red Nose Day is a campaign dedicated to raising money for children and young people living in poverty by simply having fun and making people laugh. Since all of the Walgreens Pharmacies that were selling the Red Noses were sold out, I bought three bags of M&M’s Candies. The Mars Candy Company is a partner in the Red Nose Campaign.

On Thursday, May 21st, my mom surprised me with a visit to The Arc to see all of my friends and Arc Staff Members because I missed them so much. The inaugural Red Nose Day was held in the U.S. on May 21st, 2015. People across the country came together to have fun and raise funds and awareness. The day’s events culminated in a three-hour entertainment T.V. special on the NBC channel featured the country’s favorite comedians, musicians and Hollywood stars.  I am so very thankful to have my mom in my life. I love her so much! I hope that you and your family had a great Mother’s Day and a wonderful start to your summer season.
