Hi everyone! The month of February was incredible at The Arc of San Antonio. The Arc Staff Members, the other Participants and I would like to congratulate Arc Staff Member, Ms. Brooke K. (The Arc’s Director of Child Care) on the birth of her beautiful seven pounds and ten ounces baby girl named Olivia Anne on Sunday, February 2nd. We welcome baby Olivia into our Arc family with open arms and hearts.
Also, everyone at The Arc would like to thank the hard working group of AFL-CIO Union volunteers from all over the country for making sensory items and assembling exercise equipment for the Participants on Friday, January 17th. We also like to thank Mr. S. (father of Arc Participant: Andrea S.) for assembling The Arc’s new Ball Pit play area on Friday, January 31st. The other Arc Participants and I love the fact that we now have a new ball pit play area to have fun in.
On Friday, February 14th, The Arc of San Antonio our annual Valentine’s Day Dance, hosted by Staff Member Leon S. (A Life Enrichment Instructor) where some of the Participants wore red and pink clothing. I wore my Valentine’s Day purple heart antennas that bop around when I move my head. Also, The Arc’s made Valentine’s Day inspired arts and crafts such as, Heart shaped Rice Krispies Treats and Valentine’s Origami. Participants Valerie and Michael H. were chosen by Arc Staff Members to be this year’s Valentine’s Day Dance King and Queen of Hearts. The Participants had a fabulous time dancing and celebrating Valentine’s Day with our friends. Special acknowledgement goes to Arc Staff Member, Tiffany V. (A Life Enrichment Instructor) for making such wonderful and beautiful sashes for the King and Queen of Hearts Participants. My classmates and I helped to decorate the crowns for the King and Queen of Hearts with festive pink, purple, blue, and green rhinestones. It filed my heart with such joy when my friends were crowned. I have never seen them smile so big before. February is one of my favorite month at The Arc.
On Monday. February 17th, my classmates and I went on an outing to the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. My friends and I were really exciting about this outing because The Arc Participants haven’t been to the Rodeo since 2010. We were joined by Arc Staff Members: Ms. Jennifer Tarr, (The Arc’s Director of Day Services at the West Avenue Location), Mr. Steve E., (The Arc’s President / C.E.O.), Ms. Beth G., (The Arc’s Director of Development), and Ms. Joanna P. (Development/Communications Coordinator.) I thought it was really cool that all of the Arc Staff Members would take time out of their day to go to the Rodeo with us. I wore my mini cowboy hat and we saw many types of farm animals; we even saw a baboon. The other V.I.P.S. Participants and I had a great time at the Rodeo.
