On Thursday, August 23rd, we had our Ninth Annual Life Enrichment Program Summer Talent Show, hosted by the Arc’s musically gifted staff member, Leon S. There was lots of singing and dancing. The Arc and I are very proud to say that the first place winner of the Talent Show was Arc Participant, Max T. singing the song, “My Woman, My Woman, My Wife” by Marty Robbins. The second place winners were the dancing trio of Participants, Angel R., Chris W., and Tony V. performing to, “Bye Bye Bye” by *NSYNC. The third place winner was the Arc Participant, Robyn G. dancing to: “Hoedown Throwdown” by Miley Cyrus (from the “Hanna Montana: The Movie” Soundtrack) I’m really proud of Robyn. She is in my classroom (in the V.I.P. Program “the Volunteer Involvement Program”) and she is usually very shy and soft-spoken. It was great to see her come out of her shell.
My part in the Talent Show was that I made the Talent Show program, the CD that the Participants in the Talent Show would be performing to, and the first, second, and third place certificates that were awarded to each winning Participant. The other Participants and I would like to thank the Arc Staff Members, Ryan H., Jill K., and Bob A. for being such wonderful Talent Show judges and to the Arc Staff Members, Tiffany V. and Rhonda L. for making the delightful Talent Show decorations. Also, Arc Staff Member, Ms. Beth G. (Director of Development) and Arc Participant, Ruby C. for taking great pictures of the Talent Show. I am very proud of all of my friends. In honor of this year’s 30th Summer Olympic Games in London, England, each Arc Participant received a medal or a certificate.
Then, on Friday, August 24th, the other Arc Participants and I and Staff Members had a totally radical 1980’s Dance. The Participants in my class played a game of “Name that Tune: 1980’s Edition” where we had to listened to music from the 1980’s by artists, like Michael Jackson (my favorite), Paula Abdul, Madonna, and Whitney Houston. The Arc Participants and Staff Members also dressed up in clothing from the 1980’s. My mom helped me wear a rainbow-colored wig, purple net gloves, hot pink leopard-print earrings, and a “Michael Jackson: The King of Pop” shirt. It was an awesome day and everyone had a great time!
