Hi, everyone! I hope that everyone has a fabulous time at this year’s Fiesta; I sure did! In North Carolina, we didn’t have anything like Fiesta. So, Fiesta is my favorite time of year (until Halloween comes)
On Thursday, April 2nd, some of The Arc Participants made Easter Arts and Crafts projects such as, Bunny-Shaped Easter Baskets and Rabbit Ear Hats to celebrate the upcoming holiday. Everyone had an egg-cellence day.
On Monday, April 6th, The Arc of San Antonio was chosen to be the local television Channel KSAT 12’s “Community Spotlight” Winners for the month of April. KSAT 12 has a project called “KSAT Community Spotlight” with partners, Security Service Federal Credit Union, Corner Store and University Health Systems, which is used to feature one community event per month.
On Friday, April 11th, The Arc had a Classroom Fiesta Door Decorating Contest. As The Arc’s Newsletter Editor, with the help of my Volunteer Involvement Program classmate, I took pictures to put in the April 2015 Newsletter edition.
On Friday, April 17th, the Case Managers and Administrative Staff Members that work in the upstairs offices at The Arc had a Fiesta decoration contest. My best friend and I were the Fiesta Office Decoration Judges. I wore my new purple Fiesta shirt, my 2015 new Fiesta Medal (that I got from The Arc) and my purple Fiesta flower halo.
We are very happy to say that the First Place Certificate was awarded to The Arc’s CLASS and CSCM Director, Yolanda F. Her decoration theme was, “Tijuana at Twilight.”
The Second Place Certificate was awarded to Pam S., the Director of Community Outreach Services and Heather L. (Support Services Coordinator) Their decoration theme was, “Fiesta Time!” The Third Place Certificate was awarded to Case Managers, Jill K., Laura L., Brooke K., and Liz P. Their decoration theme was, “Friends at the Fiesta.”
The Case Managers and Administrative Staff Members had a great time celebrating the Fiesta season and decorating their work areas.
The Arc Participants and Staff Members decided that on Friday, April 24th, they would commemorate the Fiesta celebrations by gathering in The Arc’s Gym and partaking in “The Taste of The Arc” Fiesta Food Tasting Booths with their friends. The Participants listened to songs from the late singer, Selena and Mariachi music, had fun hitting piñatas, and dressing up in Fiesta clothing
Everyone at The Arc had a wonderfully festive Fiesta day!
