The Arc of San Antonio’s Volunteer Mission Statement
To provide support to The Arc of San Antonio staff during their daily efforts to enhance the quality of life for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

How do I become a volunteer?
All volunteers must complete a volunteer application here and pass a background check.

How old do I have to be to volunteer?
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to volunteer with our adults.

Do I have to have any prior experience?
Nope! No prior experience is necessary to volunteer with us.

Can I volunteer at either location?
Yes, volunteers may donate their time to either locations. We ask that you specify your preference on the volunteer application. Our two locations are: 13430 West Avenue, 78216 and 6530 Wurzbach Road, 78240

What are your hours for volunteering?
Volunteer can volunteer their time between the hours of 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. during our busy time. Although we are not open on weekends, we do allow volunteers to assist with special events and projects after hours and occasional weekends.

What if I need service hours for school?
Great! Just be sure to indicate this in the “Students Only” section of the volunteer application. After this is done we will meet to determine if The Arc is a good fit for the internship/hours needed by the student.

What if I need service hours for court?
Unfortunately, The Arc does not offer court-ordered community service hours.  We also do not accept individuals who have been convicted of a sexual assault or misconduct.

What if I’m looking for a volunteer project to do with a group, business or organization?
Awesome! Group volunteer projects are always a good time! If you have a group who would like to host an event or sponsor a project at The Arc, we’d love to have you. Ideas: monthly birthday celebrations, staff appreciation luncheons, movie screenings, BINGO night, dances, ice cream socials, cookie decorating parties, pumpkin carving contests… you name it!

What do volunteers assist with?
There are a variety of areas volunteers can get involved in at The Arc of San Antonio. Currently volunteers help in the lunch room, the classroom, organizing and preparing curriculum activities, assisting with special events, swimming pool assistants during the summer, fitness activities, and clubs. If you have a skill or activity you think our participants can really enjoy, we’re interested in learning about it. We know the possible volunteer opportunities are only limited by our own imaginations, so let us know if there is a different way you would like to help.

We look forward to meeting you!  For more information on volunteering, contact Jennifer French at jfrench@arc-sa.org or call (210) 490-4300 ext 104.
